We're Home

The trip to Murfreesboro was fantastic. We left the church Thursday afternoon and pushed on through to Knoxville, stopping for our picnic lunch on the way. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Select Thursday night. It was across from the Convention Center and there in the background, you can see the Sunsphere.
We left the hotel early Friday morning, but some of us caught a few more zzzz's on the way to our final destination in Murfreesboro.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites in Murfreesboro.
The rooms were very nice.
Hannah and I roomed with Sister Diane and her daughter, Katherine.

And then meetin' was on at the Middle Tennessee Baptist Church. Dr. Tony Hutson is the Pastor there.

The sponsors and Mrs. Janet took Brother RJ and Mrs. Liz's car to the church so we could save our seats. We sat about the same place we sat last year. Mrs. Janet was getting a little nervous as she watched church groups pile in one after the other and then found out our bus had taken a wrong turn and were several minutes away. She knows a Bible will save your soul, but it can't save your seat. Imagine how relieved she was when the bus finally arrived and we were able to sit together. Praise the Lord for Tylenol, huh, Mrs. Janet?

Our own Pastor Goodman was in meeting last week and had not planned on coming to this conference until Brother Hutson called him and asked what he had to do to get him there. So he flew up Thursday night. He was sitting with Brother Tom Sexton who had preached Thursday night. We missed that meeting and Bruce and I were bummed about that. We love to hear Brother Sexton preach. It sounded like he preached a good message too on "Jesus Loves You, But Does He Like You?" Don't that sound good??? Pastor sat on the platform Friday and we got tickled at him. He's so excitable when the Spirit of God is moving. LOL

Me and my boyfriend. :) New readers: this is actually my husband, but he's still my boyfriend!

Dr. Tony Hutson
Dr. Joe Arthur was spotting preachers he knows and making his rounds. Preachers are funny to watch when they spot each other.
Welcome!

Our youth group just before meeting started Saturday morning.
Our Youth Pastor and his wife, Brother RJ and Mrs. Liz.

Brother Troy came up with his mother, Sis Diane, on Friday. He's one of my favorite young preacher boys at our church for his humble spirit.
Pastor Goodman...again! We love him!
Middle Tennessee Baptist Church has an awesome choir. I love to hear them sing. Mrs. Dana said it best when she said they set the tone for the service and were a blessing.
Friday night, the spirit was moving in the service and three people were saved from our Pastor's former church, Peachtree Road Baptist Church of Georgia.
Brother Milford Biddle preached one of the services and what a powerful man of God he was to hear. He is an older preacher but his age certainly has not affected his preaching. He was quoting scripture chapters at a time. It was amazing. His sermon was on things that need to change and things that don't need to change. Great sermon.
There were several preachers that got up on Saturday and they were all really good. I couldn't keep up with their names. They were called up from the floor. Those spur of the moment sermons are usually always the great, don't you think?
They fed us Friday night and Saturday. Here we are eating lunch together Saturday.

We left after lunch on Saturday. It was a loooooong road home so rest stops were a must. Here's John. He's a senior this year and we'll miss him when he leaves the youth group.

Grrrrrrrrrr...Matthew
Ricky wouldn't let me get a good picture of him. This was the best I got.
Tyler and Elizabeth. I love her laugh.
Jamie. I would have gotten a picture of his brother, but he rode with Brother RJ at this time due to being sick. He was fine though, and joined us on the bus again later when we stopped for supper at Cracker Barrel.

Crystal and Mark and that's Todd behind Mark. Mark is a senior also.
Clint playing guitar
Ethan and John. Ethan is a senior too. These boys have grown up in the church and it's going to be hard to see them leave the youth group and move on to other things. Pray for them!
Spencer....we dropped him off at the Cracker Barrel in Knoxville to meet his brother, Jonathan, who graduated from Crown College today. WOO HOO!!!
Clayton and Nathaniel....double trouble!
Last year we had several saved on the way home from this trip and more saved off and on during the year because of the revival that broke loose in the youth group. This year, we were wondering what they got and were happy to hear them all testify to what they brought back with them. Sunday morning when they started testifying, meetin' broke out and I was so thankful we had the opportunity to go and take these kids on the trip. You know, having fun is great and it's important. But it is so much more important to keep the youth submerged in meetings like this where they're going to hear old fashioned preachers, preach old fashioned sermons, in old fashioned style. It stirs something in them and us, as adults too. I'm thankful for a church that sees that need.
