THE OLD PATHS SIGMA BANQUET 2007

I've been scarce in the blog world this week because I've been working at the church, helping to decorate for our SIGMA banquet that was tonight. We had such a good time.

Our theme in SIGMA this year was The Old Paths. So we decorated in a 50's diner theme. The name of the diner, of course, was Old Paths Diner. Mrs. Liz had some really good ideas and I couldn't wait to share the pictures. So here ya go!

This is me and Bruce in one of the cardboard cadillacs.

This is the SIGMA staff. From left to right is Bruce and me (sponsors), Brother Chris and Mrs. Dana (sponsors), and Mrs. Liz and Brother RJ (our Youth Pastor and his wife.)

This is Jonathan and Jennifer. They're engaged to be married and were there as servers. They're standing under the giant root beer floats.

This is my mom and dad. Aren't they just so cute?? I know where they're headin'....LOVER'S LANE!

This is one of the giant milkshakes we made. This one was strawberry and then we had a chocolate one too. See the album on the wall? We had them all over. They all had old gospel songs and singers on them. It was really neat.

This is Bruce and me by a 57 bel aire that Brother Hefner brought to park at our diner. Everything is original.

This is John H and Brother Hefner by the car and the Old Paths Diner sign that Brother Chris and Mrs. Dana made.

From left to right facing the camera is Brother Greg, Mrs. Hefner, and Brother Hefner. The Hefners had a really nice time. I'm so glad they came.

Brother RJ welcomed everyone. I got tickled because he reminded me of Bowser from Sha Na Na. He had no idea who I was talking about. HA!

Pastor prayed the opening prayer....IN the sunglasses. lol

Mrs. Janet...isn't she just too cute?

This cracked me up. From left to right in the car....Jeremy, Justin, and Evan got up to do their picture behind the cut out and Josh decided to hitch-hike. He's such a nut.

Nathan reminded me of James Dean.

Brother Greg and Mrs. Janet riding in the red cadillac.

Some of the boys decided they wanted their picture by the bel aire. From left to right is Justin, Nathaniel, Ethan, Clayton, Nathan, and Tyler.

LeAnna peeking in the window. Cute pic, LeAnna...I love it!

Brother David and Mrs. April Rollins are over the college and career class and they served tonight. They did an excellent job and stayed busy busy. There were more of them than this, but most of them were serving when this picture was taken.

Me and Crystal in front of the strawberry milkshake.

Me and Gary being silly.

Mrs. Dana's banana split. Looks yummy, huh?

Justin Corriveau posing all cool in front of the counter.

Brother Brandon, one of our college students home for the summer, was asked to give a devotional. He spoke on being a classic for Jesus. Well, that's what I got out of it anyway....His illustration was the coke classic and the new coke zero. They look alike but they're different. The old coke classic has stayed the same all these years. And even though the new coke zero looks like the old coke, it still doesn't quite taste the same. His point? Stick with the old time religion! The new stuff just isn't the same.

We honored the seniors leaving this year with a key chain that had a cross and Bible on it. I believe we have four seniors, but only two were there this evening.

The top ten were given their award. From left to right...John O', Spencer, Jamie, Justin M, Justin C, Cassie, Taylor, Katherine, Ricky, and Crystal. They'll be given a special trip this year for being the top ten scorers.

Tyler Cleary won the helping hand award. This award was presented to the teenager who goes above and beyond to help out in whatever way he/she can.

Elizabeth Brown won the Andrew Award. This award was for the teenager that brought the most visitors this year.

Ricky won the Overcomer Award. This award went to the teen, who every week, showed progression, not only in points, but in their Christian walk as well.

Clint won the Good Humor Award. All year he has had a good sense of humor and possessed a good attitude, even when being corrected.

Cassie won the High Score Girl award for being the girl who scored the highest points this year.

John O' won the High Score Boy award.

Jeremy won the Unsung Hero Award. This award goes to the teenager who demonstrated humility and meekness and whose attitude reflects a Christ-centered heart.

Crystal won the Esther Award, presented to the girl who posessed a Christian Character.

Justin won the Joshua Award, presented to the boy who posessed Christian Character. Yes, he has gum in his mouth. :)

Mark won the Pastor's Award. This award is presented to the teenage boy who presents the most leadership.

The Nu Delta Builders (our team) won the medallions, trophy, and plaque this year because we held the highest score. However, the Knights were only behind us less than 1700 points. That's really not much at all considering the scoring system.

The KNIGHTS!

Justin with Brother RJ and Mrs. Liz. Justin also won the Psalm 119 award, which is given to the teen that memorized the most verses throughout the year. He memorized from Proverbs 1 to the middle of Proverbs 11.

Mrs. Liz and Brother RJ....EWWWW....I'm tellin'!!!

Mrs. Amanda....some of you may know her as Celine and Carissa's mom. :) She whipped that skirt up last night.

Bruce, Brother RJ, and Brother Chris

Me, Mrs. Dana, and Mrs. Liz doing the Charlie's Angels pose. I know...not exactly 50's, but that seems to be the pose everyone is doing these days. HA!

Awww, I love this one....Jonathan and Jennifer. So cute.

This was the backdrop on the platform. Give Me That Old Time Religion....Jeremiah 6:16a "...stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths..."

This was the shadow box in the foyer as you walked in.

We had such a good time tonight and I had fun helping to decorate this week. I especially enjoyed being able to dress up tonight. That was so much fun.

The Sons of Faith sang tonight. If you'd like to see the video of that, click here! Brother O'Malley has posted it on their family site.
