Day At The Spa
My Saturday began as usual. We got up and made our way to bus ministry. Tell me this isn't the cutest little face.
Benjamin and Harrison took up the offering...
And daddy was there this week playing his trumpet.
My mother and I had to be up at the church at 12:45 for our spa time. It was so much fun. I do hope my secret pal knows how much this day was appreciated.
When we first arrived, we took off our shoes and were given some cozy socks to put on our feet. We were led to an unbelievable buffet of chicken salad croissants, fresh fruit with fruit dip, grape salad, tostitos with salsa, crackers and spinach dip, and several desserts, including my mother's FAMOUS orange pound cake.
The nursery was set up with tables and chairs for us to sit down and enjoy our wonderful lunch.

After we ate, we were taken to the room where our make-up and nails would be done. Members of our church volunteered to service us for the day. Brenda Tessner, a Mary Kay rep, and Kelly Turner did our make-up. This is what we had to choose from. Woo Hoo!

This is Brenda in the green. She did my make-up. I loved it. Thanks, Brenda!!
When we were finished with our make-up, we moved over to the table where Missy Lail and Donna Patterson did our nails. We dipped our hands in hot wax, which felt wonderful. When they removed the wax they massaged our hands with lotion and began on our nails.
There were lots of colors to choose from for our nails.

After our nails were completed, we were taken for our massage, which was being held in the ladies prayer room. But on our way, we had to walk through the auditorium where Mrs. Ava had rocking chairs and books for those that wanted to read while they waited for their turn. There was also a table and chairs with a Bible and other books to read from.
The room where we had our massage was dimly lit with candles everywhere and gossamer hanging from the ceiling. The two ladies that did the massages were actually professionals that Mrs. Ava asked to come in. One was from a local doctor's office and the other was from a spa located in uptown Shelby.

After the massage, we had our hair done. I didn't get any pictures in there. They were running behind on time and I just never got to take a picture, but Missy Huffstetler, who is a member of our church AND also happens to be my beautician, was doing the hair along with her daughter Monica. Monica did my hair and did a really great job. Monica is also on my SIGMA team.
Here are our "before and after" pictures.

Thank you, Mrs. Ava (Our wonderful Pastor's wife), for putting so much hard work into giving us ladies a day at the spa. It was such a wonderful time of fellowship and fun. I love you!!
