Thimble Thoughts

New Year's Eve day, our Sunday School class met at Brother Joel and Mrs. Pam's home so the men could put together a new LARGE garage and work building for Brother Joel.

I'm sure Brother Joel was ever so thankful for Bruce, Ken, Brian, Phillip, Ted, and Daniel. Plus two teenagers that helped, Justin and Clayton! They worked all day and then met up again on Saturday morning and finished up by that afternoon.

Here's a pic of Justin and Bruce.

While the men folk worked on the building, us gals worked on crafty things and baked goodies for our New Year's Eve fellowship. OK, that's not entirely true...I took a nap on the couch.
:)
Amy was busy making the sweetest little hairbows.

Pam was using a new scrapbooking maching her mom got her for Christmas.

Tammy had a cake in the oven for Abigale's birthday.

And Meghan sifted through her pictures to scrapbook, giggling as she found funny ones of her children.

The actual fellowship began at 6:00 PM. Missy was ready to party!

Tammy, Missy, and little Abigale watched some funny videos on my computer.

Abigale just couldn't help trying to rest on Aunt Rebecca's shoulder.

And Joseph was sitting on his mommy's lap just being sweet. Joseph is going to be a big brother when his mommy has number SIX in a couple of months.

The guys came in hungry! OH SO HUNGRY! After they ate a bit, they played a war game before heading out to do just a little bit more on the building.

Then it was time for the real games to begin. We started with Catch Phrase. Which is always a favorite with our class.

Alanna was VERY tired when it was time to go home.

And Carissa and Pam were being naughty sticking their tongues out at each other. Will our chidren ever have good role models again?

We had a great time and you can watch a couple of videos from that night at the bottom of this post.

We spent New Year's Day at our parent's homes, having lunch with Bruce's mother and then visiting with my parent's for a little while. Their dog, Dolly, is terribly afraid of Bruce. We really don't know why, but she hides from him everytime we come over. Here she is hiding behind the Christmas tree. Crazy dog.

Harrison snuggled up to his Grandpa, who was passed out cold in his chair.

When we left mom and dad's house, we had a youth activity at our Pastor's home. He was hosting a place for us to shoot fireworks. These were our pyrotechnicians. You do NOT want these boys doing YOUR firework displays! TRUST ME!

It was a little cold last night and Pastor was bundled up tight in his Duke jacket. I believe that Duke is about the only thing we disagree with him about. GO HEELS!

One of the games we played was a version of Hot Potato that Brother Joel got for Christmas. The object to pass was a small ball. Sounds innocent enough, right? Guess again. If you're holding the ball when it turns red, you get shocked! Talk about a lot of laughs...this game brought it in. Mrs. Pam told me she found it at Belk.
Here's a video of Justin holding the ball to his neck. Crazy kid!

This is us playing Catch Phrase, which is a game where you pass around a disk while a timer beeps. We always sit boy/girl as we pass the disc since we do boys against girls. Anyway, the disc pops up a word and the person holding the disc has to get his teamates to say the word without giving the word away before the timer goes off. When the timer goes off, whoever is holding the disc, loses that round for their team.

This is a video of us playing the hot potato game.

It was good to fellowship with our church family and bring in the new year with them. I pray the Lord blesses you in 2008 and I'm looking forward to seeing what He has in store.
