Dr. Tom Wallace tells of a pastor visiting a home. Suddenly the door flew open and little Willie came racing in yelling, "Ma! Ma! Look what I've got!" He was holding aloft a dead, bloodied rat of no small size.
Excitedly, the lad began giving the gory details of his triumph, saying, "I found this old rat and grabbed a big stick and beat him and clubbed him. Then I got a rock and smashed him and beat him some more. Then...I," and for the first time he glanced up and saw the preacher listening intently. Suddenly the lad's fierce, scowling countenance became meek, and his manifestation of toughness melted like fat in the fire. His voice lowered to a tone of tenderness and piety as he concluded his story, "...and then the Lord called him home."
