My Labor Day Weekend
This weekend we kept pretty busy with family. I ordered school books while Bruce and Justin made this shelf to hang on Justin's wall to hold his SIGMA awards and instruments. It took a couple of days, but wasn't it worth it??
Saturday was my first official day at the Rest Home ministry. It was such a blessing. I absolutely LOVED it! Daddy wasn't there and that made the time bitter-sweet for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Several of us took part in the special music, including this wonderful young man. His name is Brandon and he is one of daddy's Sunday school boys. What a precious young man he is! He sang Jesus Gotta Hold Of My Life. It was great! Brother Mark Morrison played the piano.
These ladies are members of our church and regularly attend the Rest Home Ministry. Their presence is always a blessing. Brother Lewis Howell preached from Luke 5 on faith and what a great message that was. One I needed at this time. Although, I must say, I am filled to the brim with peace right now. God is so good!!
These are a few of the special ladies from the home that attended the service. They were an absolute JOY to talk with.
Sunday we had the Emory family over. I didn't get not one picture of them here. I hate that. But we did have a wonderful time with them. We ate tacos and Spanish rice with Hannah's cream cheese brownies for dessert.
Our services at church were really good. Especially the Sunday evening service. Justin has several things on his heart right now. It's such a blessing to be in a church where the alter is open to pray and to be able to pray with your child about their burdens. And I'm glad that our youth has a burden right now. It's a blessing to see them gather around each other and pray for those that they want to see saved and living right. We have seen many of their prayers answered and looking forward to seeing many more answered!
This was Hannah's first official Sunday in SIGMA. I think she was a little nervous Sunday morning going into Sunday School, but she seemed to recover quickly. She's going to miss her former SS teacher, who she has had nearly the entire time we've been at Faith, Mrs. Tammy Griffin. But fortunately, Mrs. Tammy will still be an influence in her life as she continues to teach Hannah piano.
Monday, Bruce and I went to Wal Mart to find his mom a birthday card. She turned **. I'll not tell her secret. But HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARIE!!!!
When we left Wal Mart, we stopped and ate lunch at a place called the Titanic in Shelby. It's a Mexican restaurant and was REALLY good. So all you Shelby and local people near by, stop in and enjoy a great Mexican meal. The atmosphere was good too. Anyway, we couldn't figure out how they came up with the name Titanic. Bruce said it's probably because when they opened it, they knew it would float into success or sink in failure. I said, "Well, I sure wouldn't have picked Titanic then!"
We picked the kids up at the house and went to visit Marie for her birthday.
We had a great visit with her and while we were there several people dropped in. Barry came by first, but I didn't get his picture. Aunt Sue came by. She's going to kill me when she finds out I posted this picture of her. She didn't want me to take it, but we love Aunt Sue and it was good seeing her. She's the baby sister of Bruce's daddy.
Bruce's oldest brother Brian came by too. It's always good to see Brian. He pretty well keeps this smile on his face and has kept it there since he found the Lord several years ago.
When we left Marie's, we headed to mom and dad's house to see daddy. He's feeling a lot better. Still very weak, but he's not as sick as he was. It was good to see him smile!!!!
We had a good visit with them too and then we went took pizza home and watched a John Wayne movie with the kids. It was so wonderful having my sweetie pie home ALL DAY yesterday. It's always fun having a whole day with Bruce.
This morning, I got up and took daddy to have his blood work done and we spent the better part of the day together. He rolled his eyes when I took this picture...but he did smile after I took it.
He bought us some hoagies for lunch from that little store he likes to go to and then his home health nurse came by for his vitals and to check his tubes. She said everything looked great and more than likely the Dr. will remove one of them tomorrow. I'll pick him up from dialysis and then take him for his appointment. Lord willing, she'll have GREAT news for us from his blood work.
